Moses and the Exodus

Moses was born a Hebrew Israylite from the tribe of Levi during the time period that Pharaoh ordered to kill the Hebrew baby boys at birth.  After he was born his mother hid him for three months.  Being a baby, she could no longer hide him.  So out of desperation she built him a basket (ark) and floated it down the Nile River.

Exodus 2:1 - And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

v. 2 - And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

v. 3 - And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and

daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.

By the hand and mercy of Yah Moses floated to the door steps of Pharaoh's palace where

his daughter was taking a bath.  She saw the ark and fetched it.  When she discovered that it held one of the Hebrews' children, she had compassion and took him as her own son.

Exodus 2:5 - And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

v. 6 - And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.

When Moses' mother put baby Moses in the ark and floated him down the Nile River, Moses' sister, Miriam, followed behind to see what would happen to her baby brother.

Exodus 2:4 - And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Miriam was there when Pharaoh's daughter took Moses from the ark.  She asked the princess if she wanted her to get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the child.  Pharaoh's daughter consented.  So Miriam went and got her mother to nurse her own child.

Exodus 2:7 - Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of

the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

v. 8 - And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.

v. 9 - And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

v. 10 - And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

Let’s take a closer look at this story:

  • Pharaoh ordered all Hebrew boys to be drowned in the Nile River at birth.

  • The Nile River is the same river that Pharaoh's daughter was bathing in.

  • She “adopted” Moses as her son, making him Pharaoh's “adopted” grandson.

Moses is an Egyptian name that means “The Offspring” or "Born of."  Usually this name was preceed by the name of a god such as Ramose [Ra + Moses, "the offspring (or born) of Ra"), ThutMoses [Thut + Moses, "the offspring (or born) of Thut / Thor"], etc.  Many believe Moses carried the Hebrew equivalent of his name which is Moshe, but he did not.  He was named by his Egyptian "adopted" mother not his Hebrew birth mother.  Remember, there could be no traces of him being an Israylite.

When the princess saw the child was Hebrew she was supposed to dump him in the river and hold him under until he couldn’t breathe anymore.  This was the order of her own father.  She did the opposite.  The only way she could have pulled that off is if Moses, the Israylite, looked exactly like her and her father.  The book of Acts states Moses spent forty years in Pharaoh's palace as his grandson.

Act 7:23 - And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israyl.

For forty full years the king of Egypt was responsible for killing an unknown total of Israylite baby boys while one was living in his house with all the rights and privileges of a king.  There was no way Pharaoh knew Moses was Hebrew.  If he had, Moses would have been killed the first moment his daughter showed him the child.

Many scholars believe that Pharaoh Seti I was on the throne of Egypt at the time of Moses' birth.  He was the father of Rameses or Ramoses II, also known as Rameses the Great.

George Rawlinson, an English author, wrote a book entitled, History of Egypt.  On page 252, he gives a description of Seti I.  He states: "Seti's face was thoroughly African.  He had a stormy face with a depressed flat nose, thick lips, and heavy chin."

Moses had the same physical characteristics because again, he was raised in the house of Pharaoh as his grandson when all Hebrew males were ordered to be killed at birth.  If the Israylites were a white-skinned people, how could Moses, the Hebrew, survive (secretly) in the house of Pharaoh among black-skinned Egyptians for 40 years and not be noticed?

The Hebrew Israylite, Moses, looked just like the Ancient Egyptians.  They were a black-skinned people and so was the Israylites.

Hollywood's Versions of Moses

Because Moses was nursed by his mother from an infant he knew he was an Israylite even though Pharaoh did not know.  One day Moses goes out into the field where his brothers and sisters, the Israylites, are working and kills an Egyptian taskmaster for beating a Hebrew slave.

Exodus 2:11 - And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

v. 12 - And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Moses Flees Egypt

After Moses killed the taskmaster, scripture says he had to flee the land of Egypt for his life.  This is another interesting event.  Moses was an Egyptian prince.  He could have done anything he wanted to anybody; especially non-royalty.  So why was Moses so afraid of Pharaoh trying to kill him over the death of a lowly taskmaster?

Exodus 2:13 - And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?

v. 14 - And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

v. 15 - Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

Let’s look at the key points:

1. It appears Moses is in disguise.  It would have been too risky for him to go out into the slave field as a prince of Egypt.

2. The Hebrew slaves did not recognize him as an Egyptian Prince.  They spoke to him as if he was another slave.  In fact they asked, “Who made you prince and a judge over us?”  In other words, "You are a slave just like us."  There is no way they would have spoken to Moses disrespectfully if they knew he was an Egyptian Prince.  A Prince has authority.  He could’ve had their heads cut off for that.

3. Pharaoh heard about this thing.  What thing did he hear about?  He heard about Moses going to Goshen (this is the part of Egypt in which the Israylites lived) disguising himself as a Hebrew slave and then killing an Egyptian for beating an Israylite.  As the body of the taskmaster was found, these two Hebrews knew Moses was the one who did it.  To them, Moses was another slave.  So they fingered him as the killer.  I’m sure the guards knew who he was.  And word got to Pharaoh that Moses killed a taskmaster while disguised as a Hebrew slave.  This piqued Pharaoh’s attention.  And from this event, Pharaoh discovered that the prince who was in his house for forty years is not Egyptian but, in fact, an Israylite.

Therefore Moses had to leave Egypt.  Remember, this is the same Pharaoh who ordered his people to kill the Hebrew boys at birth.  This is the same time period in which Moses, the Hebrew, should have been killed a long time ago.

Moses stayed away from Egypt for forty years, until that Pharaoh died.  Moses escaped to modern-day Saudi Arabia to a place that was called Midian.  He traveled approximately 1,037 miles running from the face of Pharaoh.  This shows us how serious Pharaoh was about murdering Moses.  In other words, Moses did something grand to anger Pharaoh which was pretending to be Egyptian.

Once Moses made it to Midian he ran into seven sisters who were all the daughters of the priest of Midian, Reuel.  The young women ran into trouble that day from some shepherds as they attempted to water their flocks.  But Moses stood up for the sisters and protected them from the shepherds and watered their flocks for them.  As the young women made it home their father was surprised at their early arrival.  They explained to him that an Egyptian had watered their flocks for them.

Exodus 2:16 - Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.

v. 17 - And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

v. 18 - And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?

v. 19 - And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

The women described Moses as Egyptian, but Moses was an Israylite who lived as an Egyptian for forty years.  They did not call him a Hebrew dressed like an Egyptian. They thought this Israylite was one of the sons of Ham—an Egyptian.

Real Images of the Ancient Egyptians

Below are real images of the ancient Egyptians depicting what they looked like in physical appearance.

As you can see, they have the same characteristics of the Israylites.

The Hebrews were in Egypt for 350 years by the time of Moses.

Pharaoh knew the Israylites yet Moses still passed for a full fledged Egyptian.

"Aren’t You That Egyptian?"

How Apostle Paul, an Israylite, was Mistaken for an Egyptian

The Israylite, Paul, whose name in Hebrew is Shaul, was an apostle of Yahoshua.  He was not one of the original handpicked apostles, but came into the fold after the death of the MessiYah.  Paul / Shaul is one of the most quoted apostles in the entire Bible.  The majority of the letters written to the Gentiles are by Paul.  Despite the familiarity with Paul, did you know this Hebrew Israylite was mistaken for a black Egyptian?

Paul was not a Christian.  He was an Israylite who was a follower of Yah through Yahoshua, the MessiYah.  He was from the tribe of Benjamin.

Philipians 3:5 - Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israyl, of the tribe of Benjamin, an

Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

Romans 11:1 - I say then, Hath YAH cast away his people? YAH forbid. For I also am an Israylite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

In the book of Acts (chapter 21) we read that Paul was in an uproar as the Israylites wanted to kill him.  This caused Paul to get arrested by a Greek guard.  Paul, who was bilingual, spoke Hebrew and Greek and was trying to plead his case to the guard.  Paul knew this guard was Greek.  So he spoke to him in the Greek language.  The chief captain was surprised that Paul could speak Greek and asked him a very interesting question as it relates to his identity.

Acts 21:36 - For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.

v. 37 - And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?

v. 38 - AREN’T YOU THAT Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?

v. 39 - But Paul said, I am a man which am an Israylite of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.

In order for this chief captain to mistake Paul, the Hebrew, for a black-skinned Egyptian, Paul had to look like an Egyptian.  Scripture tells us the whole nation of Israyl did.  Paul had to tell the chief captain he was not an Egyptian, but that he was an Israylite.  Once again, we see from scripture that it is hard to physically distinguish a Hebrew from an Egyptian.

The Attempted Alteration of His Physical Appearance

Original Reconstructed Image of King Tut

The above image is of King Tut that was made in 2005 using forensic science.  Using the same science and technology used to put a face to murdered victims whose bodies are too badly decomposed to identfy, scientists took the measurements of Tut's skull to determine what he looked like when he was alive.

New Reconstructed Image of King Tut

Another reconstructed image of King Tut was made in 2006.  This looked nothing like the original, which resembled many of the busts and statues that were handmade of King Tut by the ancient Egyptians.  Instead, this image looks more like Gentile pop singer, Boy George (see below).

How the Messiyah was able to hide in Egypt

Our MessiYah, Yahoshua, was hidden in Egypt as a child just like Moses.  In chapter two of the book of Matthew we get the details about this event.  At the time of Yahoshua's birth, a king by the name of Herod was ruling the nation of Israyl.  He was appointed to the throne by the Romans.  At this time in history the Romans ruled the world, and the lsraylites were under Roman dominion.

Wise men came to Israyl from the east because they knew the prophecy of when MessiYah was to be born (Daniel 9).  They came to King Herod to ask about the newly born king, Yahoshua.  Herod did not like the fact that somebody else was called the King of the Israylites.  So Herod tried to have all Hebrew baby boys killed that were two years and under.  Scripture tells us that Yah warned Yahoshua's earthly father, Joseph, to take the young child and his mother, Mary (Miriam), and FLEE INTO EGYPT.  He was told to stay there until he received further instructions, because Herod would seek the young child to destroy him.

Matthew 2:13 - And when they were departed, behold, the angel of Yah appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

v. 14 - When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Joseph, Miriam, and Yahoshua were told to escape the land of Israyl and flee into Egypt.

They weren’t there for military protection because during this time Egypt was a Roman province under Roman control.  They fled into Egypt because Egypt was still a "black" country, populated by a majority of black-skinned people (Egyptians), and the Hebrews and Egyptians resembled one another in physical appearance.  Joseph, Miriam, and Yahoshua would have been just another black-skinned family among many.  Remember, they fled into Egypt to HIDE from Herod who was seeking to kill Yahoshua.

A Gentile Biblical Scholar Reveals that Our Messiyah was not "White"

The fact about Yahoshua hiding in Egypt was attested to by biblical scholar and University of Birmingham historian, Dr. Mark Goodacre, on a BBC produced program called The Complete Jesus in 2001. Goodacre (pictured below) stated that it would have been hard for Yahoshua to hide amongst the Egyptians if he did not look like the Egyptians.  He was making the point that Yahoshua could not have been a man of white hue. His exact quote is as follows.

Dr. Mark Goodacre

"Now it's very unlikely that Jesus would have been able to be HIDDEN in Egypt, if he had a very different color of SKIN from the people in Egypt."

The people in Egypt had black skin.  Remember, Herod was put on the throne of Israyl by the Romans.  Egypt was under Roman dominion.  All Herod had to do was check with the Roman officials in Egypt to find out if there were any Hebrews with baby boys around.  But since the Hebrews and the Egyptians looked the same physically, it would have been hard to single out a Hebrew family among the native "black" ancient Egyptians.  The Romans, like the Canaanites, Egyptians, Greek guards, and even the Hebrews themselves could not tell a Hebrew from an Egyptian.

If Yahoshua and the rest of the Hebrews looked like the image of the "Christian Christ," it would have been hard for him to hide in Egypt (among the black Egyptians) and not be noticed.

The Messiyah's True Image on an Ancient Coin

The Roman emperor, Justinian the Great, who ruled from 527 - 564 C.E., 500 years after the time of Yahoshua, had engraved on a coin the image of Yahoshua having woolly / kinky hair and "BLACK" features.  On the obverse side of the coin there is an image of Justinian but with straight hair.

The Cambridge Encyclopedia has this particular listing about that image on the coin:

"Whatever the fact, this coin, with the straight haired Justinian on the obverse side, places beyond doubt the belief that "Jesus" was a Negro (black-skinned)."

This is an actual image of the coin ------------------------------------->

As mentioned in Part 1, the ancient Egyptians were the descendants of Noah's son, Khawm or Ham in English.  Khawm means "black, hot and burnt."  The ancient Egyptians called their land and themselves Khemet, which in their tongue means "THE LAND OF BLACKS."  The word Khemet is nothing but a variation of the word Khawm in the language of ancient Egypt.  In Psalm 78:51, Egypt is called "The House of Ham (Khawm)."

Psalm 78:51 - And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles (house) of Ham (Khawm).

Psalm 105:23 - Israyl also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham (Khawm).

v. 27 - They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham (Khawm).

The scriptures call Egypt, "the land of Ham (Khawm)."  Remember, one of the meanings of Khawm is "black."  The scriptures are calling Egypt, "The Land of Blacks," which is what Khemet means. Egypt is called, "the land of Ham (Khawm)," because the Egyptians were descendants of Noah's son, Ham (Khawm).  This is more than likely the reason they called themselves Khemet.

Scripture  supports the fact that the Egyptians were a black-skinned people.
